Prince Edward Island - part 2
(sightseeing)
August 13, 2018 - August 15, 2018
After our day of rest we drove from Eldon to Saint Peters Bay where Greenwich, the easternmost portion of Prince Edward Island National Park, is located. A large sand dune is located there, having moved through the years across the spit of land leaving dead trees in it's wake.
An sea of fire weed growing alongside the path to the sand dune and the beach. We decided to go late in the afternoon in order to avoid the hottest part of the day. |
Looking towards St. Peter's Bay from the pathway. The bay is filled with a mussel farming operation which I first thought were markers set up for racing sculls. |
After walking in the open, then through a stretch of woods with many dead trees, you reach a boardwalk which takes you over a marshy area, then onto a very long dock. |
The dock leads you over a large shallow fresh water lake. |
Standing on part of the dune looking back at the dock. |
This is part of the dune which is farther away from the water. |
Panoramic picture of the dune and the dock. |
Looking out toward the Gulf of St. Lawrence from the dune nearest the shore. |

Same dune in the opposite direction. We were so glad we took this hike in the late afternoon. It would have been brutal in the late morning or early afternoon. |
Really enjoyed this walk, it was a nice way to spend the afternoon.
